Job purpose:
We are seeking a Director, Flight Test Engineer to join AALTO. In this role, you will report to the VP of Engineering and oversee all phases of development testing. You will lead and mentor a small team, ensuring the successful execution of test activities, including gathering test requirements from stakeholders, developing test documentation, conducting reviews, coordinating ground and flight testing, and reporting findings.
Responsibilities:
1. Providing inspirational technical leadership to the test team, managing technical scope and day-to-day tasking.
2. Managing and delivering ground and flight test activities to meet type certification requirements.
3. Acting as the flight test post holder for a P21J Design Organisation.
4. Managing a team to elicit, analyse, and derive requirements from stakeholder needs.
5. Managing individual test activities.
6. Managing changes with the delivery of impact analysis.
7. Verifying that the system and sub-system requirements are correctly and completely implemented.
8. Evaluating system changes, including new and expanded functionality.
9. Ensuring the system is tested to AALTO development standards.
10. Configuring and maintaining test tools and equipment.
Skills & experience:
1. Demonstrable leadership skills to inspire a collaborative and motivated team environment.
2. Experience in working with Aviation Regulators and/or Part 21 organisations.
3. Evaluation of software and hardware systems.
4. Good working knowledge of flight sciences.
5. Testing of safety-related/critical systems, preferably in the Aerospace sector.
Other Useful skills and experience:
1. Deep Aviation industry experience.
2. Knowledge of uncrewed air systems.
3. Experience working within flight test organisations for aircraft under development.
4. Structural loads evaluation and testing.
5. DO 160 environmental test requirements.
6. Evaluation of systems and equipment to DO 178 and 254 requirements.
7. Good understanding of supplier management.
