EPUT is looking to appoint an enthusiastic Consultant Psychiatrist with experience in leading expert medical input to the Essex Community Adult Eating Disorder Service. The post covers the Mid and South Essex areas and is based at Sankey House, Pitsea.
The trust is supportive of newly qualified consultants continuing professional development seeking to deepen and broaden their skills. You will be supported to pursue educational and research interests which provide high quality care and safety to our patients. We have excellent links with the medical school at ARU and other educational establishments.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will provide leadership and medical advice to the team, working flexibly in consultation with local operational leads and other consultants. Responsibilities include:
* Attend the weekly clinical MDT meeting and participate in discussions around high-risk clients.
* Liaise with acute hospitals, specialist eating disorders units, and local Mental Health teams.
* Provide comprehensive assessment and management of complex presentations, including the prescription and titration of medications.
* Lead in the monitoring and treatment of the physical complications of eating disorders.
* Supervise the team in the medical monitoring and management of high-risk patients.
* Assess and manage risk, including vulnerability and suicide risk.
* Write reports for patients in education, training, work, and/or accessing benefits.
* Ensure good medical standing for CPD and adherence to GMC guidelines.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registration with the General Medical Council and on the Specialist Register.
* CCT, CESR or within 6 months of expected CCT date.
* Postgraduate degree in psychiatry (MRC Psych or equivalent).
Knowledge and experience
* Basic specialist training and 3 years higher or equivalent professional training.
* Experience of clinical research methods with published research.
* Experience in organising educational activities.
