Job Title: Senior Property Solicitor Employer: Council within the home counties Rate: £55-65p/h Inside Hybrid: Fully remote Contract length: Rolling 3 months (scope for extensions) Job Description: We are seeking a skilled and motivated Property Solicitor to join a Legal Services team with a council within the home counties. In this role, you will provide expert legal advice and support on property-related matters, particularly in the context of local government and public sector work. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing property transactions, advising on land and property issues, and ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Key Responsibilities: Property Transactions: Advise on, negotiate, and draft documents for a wide range of property transactions, including acquisitions, disposals, leases, easements, and licenses. Public Sector Focus: Provide legal support for the Council’s property-related projects, including land sales, developments, regeneration schemes, and affordable housing initiatives. Legal Advice: Offer expert legal advice on property law, landlord and tenant matters, land use, planning regulations, and compulsory purchase orders, ensuring compliance with relevant statutory frameworks. Dispute Resolution: Represent the Council in property disputes, including boundary disputes, landlord/tenant conflicts, and matters arising from development agreements or planning issues. Risk Management: Identify legal risks and advise the Council on mitigation strategies in relation to property transactions and property law matters. Contract Drafting and Review: Draft and review property contracts, deeds, and agreements to ensure the Council’s interests are protected. Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including planning, regeneration, and housing, to provide integrated legal support across the organisation’s property-related initiatives. Client Liaison: Build and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders, external parties (such as developers, contractors, and other local authorities), and external legal partners. Compliance: Ensure compliance with local government legislation, planning law, property law, and other relevant statutory and regulatory frameworks.
