Job Title: Senior Category Buyer – Hydraulics Components
Salary: £59,900 - £74,000 depending on experience
Location: Desford, Leicestershire
Contract: Permanent & full time
As a Senior Category Buyer in Hydraulic Components, you are responsible for directing the development and implementation of a category/platform based regional or worldwide sourcing strategy. You will manage policies, agreements, source catalogues, and special purchasing programs, supporting specific Product line(s) and NPI programs.
What you will do:
As a Senior Category Buyer, you are accountable for, but not limited to:
* Developing, managing, and executing the category strategy, including policies, agreements, source catalogs, and special procurement programs.
* Recognizing the potential for cost decreases, inventory reductions, and quality improvement.
* Acting as the liaison between the organization and suppliers, communicating information explicitly while considering production demands and suppliers' conditions.
* Documenting supplier performance on time sensitivity and production; maintaining strong relationships with suppliers.
What You Can Demonstrate:
* Negotiating:
o Ensures negotiators have awareness of complementary yet diverse interests and protects their position while achieving win-win outcomes.
o Successfully completes significant negotiations, both internal and external.
o Identifies similarities and differences in position and assesses the impact on discussions.
* Supplier Relationship Management:
o Advises on supplier relationship management practices.
o Builds consensus, resolves conflicts, and influences results with different suppliers.
o Coaches juniors on selecting, evaluating, and managing suppliers.
* Strategic Sourcing:
o Develops and explains strategic sourcing best practices and monitors execution for all stages of the process.
o Trains others on strategic sourcing in diverse environments.
o Designs and develops standard supplier agreements and procurement policies.
Top Candidates Will Have:
* Related degree
* Proven leadership experience in design and development.
* Experience collaborating with suppliers in the automotive industry.
* A recognized ability to devise sourcing strategies and provide long-term direction.
