We are looking for a fixed term Head of Building & Customer Safety to cover maternity leave. This is an exciting opportunity to lead our Building & Customer Safety Team of in-house employees and external contractors. You will be responsible for covering building safety and compliance across all of our assets and ensuring all our buildings are safe and compliant with legislation, regulation and best practice. You will be the strategic lead for mhs in these areas and will report to our Board, Directors, staff and external stakeholders. You will act as the technical lead alongside your team in the delivery of Building Safety Projects. This includes responsibility for planning, development, and delivery of Building Safety investigations, ensuring all works are of high quality, cost effective and in-line with our regulatory requirements. You will provide a customer focussed service and work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure continuous engagement. You will also manage project consultants and contractors ensuring they are performing in line with requirements and are compliant with Health & Safety and Fire Safety. Key tasks include : Management of statutory and non-statutory compliancy servicing contracts including the big 6 risk areas: Fire, Legionella, Asbestos, Gas, Electrics and Lifts. Developing and maintaining customer focused delivery of Asset Management functions, ensuring the highest quality and compliance with legislation, policy and best practice. Ensuring statutory compliance is managed and monitored effectively, taking a solution focussed approach, removing risk to the company where possible and identifying and implementing mitigation where complete removal is not possible. Promoting compliance and building safety requirements and identify training needs throughout the business, including Boards and Committees. Working closely with Development as a client to ensure all required information is captured for new properties. You'll need to have : Extensive experience managing a compliance and/or building safety team, and major building safety projects, being responsible for managing risk. Proven experience of working within teams successfully delivering major building safety projects. Extensive building/fire safety and renewal/regeneration component replacement knowledge, standards and practice. Technical building related qualification (HND level), preferably in Construction, Built Environment, Building Services Engineering or Surveying. Ability to understand and analyse reports to provide accurate and relevant advice to key stakeholders, including colleagues and customers, Leadership, Boards and Committees Experience working in a fast-paced environment, managing project budgets and controlling expenditure Excellent oral and written communications Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, relevant software, and accurate recording for audit purposes.
