Job Description
Overview of the role:
As an integral member of the team, your inaugural assignment will encompass a pivotal contribution to the project’s design phase culmination.
Within the piping sector, you will be entrusted with the meticulous design oversight of an expansive piping network, spanning over 100 kilometers, which forms the backbone of the project for the venture.
As a Mechanical Calculation Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the integrity of the pipe network design and its supporting structures by performing detailed piping calculations and assessing HVAC and electrical supports for various load scenarios, including dead weight, thermal expansion, and seismic activity. Expertise in finite element analysis software is highly valued and considered an essential skill for this role. Additionally, knowledge of Python programming is advantageous for developing specialized tools.
Qualifications
Essential Qualifications, Experience and Skills:
1. Outstanding communication abilities, both in writing and speaking.
2. In-depth understanding of mechanical concepts, including modal and static analysis.
3. Proficiency in mechanical simulations, particularly using finite element methods.
4. Familiarity with industry standards and regulatory compliance related to mechanical engineering.
5. Innovative problem-solving abilities to tackle complex engineering challenges.
6. Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated with the latest technological advancements in the field.
Desirable Qualifications, Experience and Skills:
1. Experience of UK design context and regulatory processes.
2. High level of technical coordination.
3. Experience in RSTAB or BEAM STRESS and support calculation.
4. Knowledge of RCC-M code (section C3650 at least).
5. Knowledge of CALTUY/Pipestress.
6. Programming proficiency, especially in Python, for the development of computational tools.
7. Experience with CAD software for design and modeling.
Additional Information
12 month fixed term contract.
