What is great about the role? Merthyr Young Person’s scheme provides emergency accommodation to 11 young people age 16-35 who are facing homelessness in the local area. The service focuses on empowering young people to gain independence through developing tenancy management skills in preparation for independent living. This role allows opportunity to make a real difference to those who we support, you will work in an interactive and dynamic way where you will equip individuals with the knowledge and tools they need to live independently. This is a challenging role and you will be faced with complex behaviours and needs, including alcohol misuse, mental health, substance misuse, anti-social behaviour and offending behaviour. You will work with a range of different personalities and therefore you will need to be able to adapt your approach to engage with a diverse cliental and manage disputes or conflicts appropriately. Your day will consist of: Engaging and interacting with the people we support Delivering workshops relating to tenancy management, health, and wellbeing Supporting the client as directed by the Project Worker according to the support plan specifically tailored to each client Wellbeing checks Ensuring the building is secure including health & safety checks and maintaining an awareness of who is in the building Reception duties as and when required Dealing with challenging behaviours and responding to arising needs Addressing any additional needs, the people we support might have Who we are looking for: There are many things we look for when recruiting Scheme Support Officers and each person in the team brings something different to the role. However, things we will be looking to assess within your application and at interview are: Ability to work with and build rapport with vulnerable and disadvantaged people and to provide support and advice appropriately Ability to work well within a team Ability to prioritise tasks and manage own workload with minimal supervision Relevant experience or transferable skills Demonstrate the right attitudes in line with Pobl values IT Literate Ability to deal with challenging and emergency situations Good communication skills Pobl Benefits Full-time, Permanent Salary: £23,376.60 Work pattern: the scheme is covered 24hrs, 7 days a week therefore you may be required to work days, evening, waking nights and weekends.
