The POAC Pathway Co-ordinator role is a newly developed role to support the digitalisation of the pre-assessment process and help the service deliver the newly implemented national requirements to the Elective Surgical Pathway.
This role requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills as the POAC Pathway Coordinator networks with various departments and staff within the Trust and outside agencies.
The Co-ordinator is often a point of contact for patients, so patient care is paramount to delivering the best possible service.

Main duties of the job
* The post holder will be responsible for ensuring effective co-ordination of all elective surgical pathway services within the Directorate in line with National Policy and locally agreed guidelines.
* To be a point of contact for patients, ensuring patient care is paramount to delivering the best possible service.
* Work closely and as part of a team with nursing, administrative, medical, and management staff associated with each clinic.
* Ensuring effective day-to-day administration and coordination of clerical procedures and working practices within the service, in line with national requirements and CMG policies and guidelines.
* To coordinate and manage POA appointments and follow-ups as necessary.
* To ensure patient appointments are arranged in conjunction with agreed booking procedures, and patients informed by post or telephone as appropriate.

Person specification
Training & Qualifications
* GCSEs in English and Maths or equivalent, ie NVQ.
Experience
* Previous experience working in a patient or customer care environment.
* Demonstrate strong organisational skills.
* Knowledge of computer systems.
* Experience of booked elective patient admission process.
* Awareness of NHSE/GIRFT policies concerning Early Screening programme and developments within the Trust.
Communication
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both verbal and written.
Skills
* Able to deal with personal information with sensitivity, always respecting privacy and dignity.
* Able to solve problems, use initiative, and take preventative actions, referring to others where appropriate.
* Ensures personal, professional behaviour and integrity at all times.
