From advice and engineering, to the installation and maintenance of industrial and commercial cooling and refrigeration systems Responsibilities / Tasks Role Overview Location : Harrow, Park Royal, Wembley, London We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Refrigeration Engineer to join our team, supporting a busy food production facility. This role involves a hands-on approach to the service, maintenance, and installation of refrigeration systems. You will work independently and as part of a team, ensuring that all tasks are carried out efficiently and to a high standard. Key Responsibilities Service and Maintenance Perform routine service and maintenance work on refrigeration systems. Complete all necessary paperwork to a professional standard. Health and Safety Identify and report all health and safety concerns to the line manager in accordance with company policies. System Operation and Testing Inspect and test the operation of systems using gauges and instruments. Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical issues as needed. Leak Detection Test lines, components, and connections for leaks, ensuring systems are operating safely and efficiently. Mechanical Knowledge Apply strong mechanical expertise to repair refrigeration systems. This includes reading schematics and technical drawings to determine the location, size, and type of components required for repairs and maintenance. Electrical Competence Handle basic electrical work related to the service and maintenance of refrigeration systems. Refrigerant Handling Perform refrigerant reclaiming as required by the system's needs. Installations Competently install refrigeration components, including expansion valves, control valves, compressors, condensers, evaporators, and other system parts. Fabrication and Assembly Fabricate and assemble structural and functional components using hand and power tools, as well as brazing equipment. Repairs and Replacements Carry out repairs and replacements, keeping detailed records of work completed, causes of malfunctions, and parts used. Customer Communication and Scheduling Coordinate with the office to schedule service work and initiate work orders, requisitions, and stock orders. Ensure timely and professional communication with customers. Service Quotations Assist in producing detailed service quotations as instructed by management. Teamwork and Professionalism Work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Act in a courteous, professional manner at all times to uphold the company’s reputation in the marketplace. Reporting and Business Development Report all potential business opportunities to the service, maintenance, or regional manager. Time Management Submit electronic timesheets accurately and promptly. Out-of-Hours Support Be available for out-of-hours work when required. ( Call-Out Rota: Participation in a 24/7 call-out rota system (Currently 1 in 7) Your Profile / Qualifications Commercial Refrigeration experience – 5 years City & Guilds (2079) F GAS City & Guilds (2078) Ammonia Safe Handling Beneficial but not required C02, Hydrocarbon qualifications Ability to follow technical drawings, building plans, and other instructions Ability to work carefully, methodically and safely Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to diagnose and repair refrigeration issues. Competent in basic electrical work. Skilled in brazing techniques. Experience in a busy food production facility is highly desirable. Ability to fabricate and assemble components using hand tools and power tools. Ability to produce service quotations and keep accurate service records.
