Job Description
Are you an Associate Project Manager looking to work on building projects that can change the world, projects that are always more complex and innovative than the last?
If so, we are looking for an experienced Associate Project Manager to join our team in Oxford to work on projects in the Science, Health or Education sectors. You will be joining a PM team of like-minded experts that have a passion for innovation and delivering cutting edge solutions.
About Us:
AECOM's PM and CM teams play a critical role in the conceptualisation and creation of amazing spaces, delivering projects and buildings that define the regional skylines and communities. We are part of the UK AECOM Buildings & Places with a headquarters in Aldgate, London.
We are friendly, busy and motivated with an established track record of successfully delivering projects in Oxford and London.
As an Associate Project Manager you will need to have proven experience gained within consultancy or client organisation with the ability to undertake a lead role on medium to large sized Life Science and Tertiary Education related projects, with minimal support whilst providing line management support as part of your duties. You will be expected to work as part of an integrated team on a significant component of a large complex Life Science and Tertiary Education project, that will be led by a Director.
The role would cover the whole project lifecycle from initial inception and business case development, through the design process, procurement process, site delivery, commissioning phase and defects management.
Your duties will include but are not limited to the following:
1. Lead Project Management Commissions, taking responsibility for their successful delivery.
2. Undertake Line Management and or supervisory responsibilities, where you will support, motivate and mentor members of your team. Ensure all staff members reporting to you have current and relevant training.
3. Lead internal AECOM Project Team Meetings for the purposes of coordinating the AECOM Project Team in addition to the wider AECOM Project Management Team.
4. Lead the management of the delivery of project management team outputs, in accordance with agreed time-scales and quality standards.
5. Positively engage with the construction and design team and work collaboratively to mitigate risks, avoid claims and disputes whilst maintaining meticulous records to allow you to quickly respond to issues arising and form an informed and balanced opinion having due regard to contract obligations.
6. Co-ordinate, review and ensure that there has been a sign off of all management information produced by project management teams prior to issue.
7. Lead the development of strong relationships with clients and members of the cross-functional team.
8. Lead the delivery of Project Management Commissions ensuring their successful delivery.
9. Be the main interface with AECOM clients (New and Existing).
10. Lead the management of design on large complex projects.
11. Lead the management of tender documents, appraisals and negotiations on large complex projects.
12. Lead the formulation and management of construction contracts on large complex projects.
13. Progress business development opportunities with existing and new clients, including cross-selling opportunities.
14. To support 'winning' clients, being responsible for the quality of work outputs, effective communication and demonstration of professional behaviors.
15. Provide leadership within project management business and provide leadership and mentoring to the team.
16. Manage project finances, resourcing, audits, and reviews, to a portfolio of projects being led within the cost center.
17. Formulate fee proposals.
18. Support Project Managers through their Professional Chartership.
19. Active involvement in recruitment and retention activities.
20. Ensure you complete all relevant training.
Experience Needed:
1. Proven experience gained in the Life Science or Tertiary Education / Healthcare construction sectors.
2. Knowledge and experience of the Life Science and Tertiary Education sector (including current issues and business drivers) and local construction market.
3. Excellent understanding of construction contracts.
4. Excellent understanding of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015.
Qualifications
1. Professional Qualified - ideally Project Management/ Construction/Engineering/Quantity Surveying Degree.
2. Chartered Status with the RICS, CIOB, RIBA, ICE or other equivalent institution.
