Control System Engineer
To join a major detailed design phase engineering project on an initial 8-month contract.
This is a contract opportunity for an experienced engineer to contribute to the design and delivery of complex Instrumentation & Control (I&C) systems, with a strong focus on DCS, ESD, and FGS systems, and working closely with client teams and vendors.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver I&C design documentation including P&IDs, Instrument Lists, Specifications, and Data Sheets.
* Lead and support the detailed engineering and design activities for control systems across multiple work packages.
* Assist in the design of process control systems using DCS, PLC, and SCADA platforms.
* Collaborate with client engineering teams and third-party vendors to ensure proper system interfacing and integration.
* Contribute to safety-related studies and documentation such as SIL, LOPA, HAZOP, and development of Safety Requirement Specifications (SRS).
* Prepare technical requisitions, perform vendor bid evaluations, and support procurement processes.
* Apply knowledge of relevant industry standards, especially IEC 61508 & IEC 61511.
* Develop and maintain I/O lists, instrumentation schedules, and control element specifications.
* Interface with Electrical systems and Motor Control Centres (MCCs) as part of an integrated team.
* Work within a multi-centre engineering environment, managing deliverables across global locations.
Candidate Requirements
* Proven experience in detailed engineering phases of large-scale projects, particularly brownfield onshore projects.
* Solid background in control systems and instrumentation across DCS, ESD, FGS, PLC, and SCADA.
* Familiarity with Middle Eastern project standards and delivery methodologies is highly desirable.
* Strong understanding of instrumentation interfaces, process control logic, and vendor coordination.
* Demonstrated experience with safety system design, SIL assessments, and associated documentation.
* Knowledge of IEC 61508 / IEC 61511 functional safety standards.
* Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and engage effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
* Excellent communication skills and stakeholder engagement ability.
