Overview
We are seeking experienced professionals to join our client’s coding team, specialising in understanding and mapping medical services and items to standardised codes with precision and accuracy. The Coding Analyst will support ongoing development of our client’s coding related systems and services. Identifying opportunities for product enhancements and developments. Assisting the Coding Team and Coding Manager in ensuring customer cases are picked up within SLA and processes are followed as expected.
Salary: £30,000 to £35,000
The Role
1. Mapping clinical terminologies to clinical codes across several classifications including OPCS, CCSD, ICD10, ICD9 and ISCs
2. Accurately map codes using reference code sets for various medical descriptions, including prosthesis, consumables, diagnostic tests, and other healthcare services.
3. Mapping clinical codes to genders, anatomical classifications and specialties.
4. Leading the ongoing development of the ISC classification and liaising with customers for new code development.
5. Supporting ongoing development of coding related systems and services. Identifying opportunities for product enhancements and developments
6. Supporting and training colleagues in clinical coding related matters
7. Picking up customer and internal cases and responding within SLA
8. Ensuring processes and data are as expected
9. Advising customers and internal teams on the best codes to use
10. Understanding customer’s codes are mapped and standardised, handling customer support issues and producing customer analysis and reports.
11. Support in the loading of provider/insurer contracts.
12. Investigate and resolve coding discrepancies using analytical and problem-solving skills
The Person
13. Educated to degree level or recognised equivalent
14. Knowledge of the private medical insurance industry would be helpful as would experience of working in a regulated industry.
15. High-level customer service experience
16. Experience with software or technology products, preferably in a health tech environment.
17. Experience with CRM systems. Salesforce (desirable)
18. Clinical coding knowledge and experience
19. Understanding of operational procedures and QA process standards
20. Prior experience with CCSD, ICD, or industry-standard coding systems
21. Intermediate to advance knowledge of Microsoft Excel (Vlookups, Pivots)
22. Strong analytical, administrative and organisation skills and great attention to detail – able to make sense of complex requirements and understand underlying causes of issues and be creating in forming solutions.
23. Excellent listening, questioning and problem-solving skills.
24. Demonstrable initiative and enthusiasm, and the ability to multi-task. Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines. • Able to use all required Microsoft tools effectively
