Position:
This position offers a dynamic and varied workload that evolves based on project demands. Responsibilities include working closely with the creative director to understand and define client needs, developing and presenting concept design schemes, and engaging in space planning. The role involves compiling mood and material boards, sourcing and managing samples, and identifying new suppliers to enhance design execution.
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and developing detailed presentations, schedules, drawings, and Stage 4 packages in Vectorworks, ensuring all design documentation is accurate and comprehensive. They will play a key role in maintaining and updating the project management system, ensuring deadlines are met and project timelines stay on track.
Strong relationship management with suppliers and contractors is essential to maintaining the studio’s high standards. The position also includes sourcing and procuring bespoke joinery and FF&E, overseeing procurement processes, and coordinating with contractors, manufacturers, and suppliers from concept to completion. Additional responsibilities involve managing and overseeing the FF&E installation process and supporting the creative director with photography shoots and other creative initiatives.
This role would suit a designer looking to be a big fish in a small pond, where their skills and contributions are fully recognised—something that can often be overlooked in larger practices. It offers the opportunity to shape the position, take ownership, and make a meaningful impact, with a balance of both client-facing responsibilities and on-site involvement.
Candidate:
The ideal candidate will have a degree in Interiors, Design, or Architecture from a recognised university or college, along with at least four years of postgraduate experience working on both traditional and contemporary residential or hospitality projects. They should have meticulous attention to detail and a strong understanding of interior design phases and RIBA stages, particularly within residential construction and renovation. A robust portfolio demonstrating their own work, including visuals, client presentations in Adobe CS, and Stage 4 drawings in Vectorworks, is essential. A broad knowledge of industry suppliers and makers is expected.
A genuine enthusiasm, can-do mindset, and solution-oriented approach are just as important, if not more than core design skills.
Studio:
This small interior architecture and design studio, based in Winchester, Hampshire, is committed to delivering exceptional creative design and impeccable service to its discerning residential clients. The studio fosters a supportive environment that provides designers with hands-on experience across all phases of the design process, allowing them to develop a well-rounded skill set. Operating within a hybrid working model, the studio offers a dynamic and collaborative setting for professional growth.
This studio is an equal opportunity employer that welcomes candidates returning to the workforce.
