About the role:
Reporting into the Lead Systems Engineer, the successful candidate will join a highly focused and passionate team leading the delivery of electrical / electronic engineering across the business.
The role is within the Group Electrics & Controls Excavator team which has responsibility to ensure that all new JCB Product programmes meet the required technical deliverables against required timing. The role requires technical knowledge, hands-on experience, project delivery process understanding, and the ability to work with diverse teams to ensure delivery in line with product excellence.
Located at the manufacturing site, the successful candidate will be able to touch and feel the product to ensure the design level requirements are appropriately translated into machine operation and function.
Working as part of the systems engineering team, you will support the definition, interpretation and development of the customer and system level requirements.
What does this role involve day to day?
1. This role will involve architecture design across a range of products with rationalisation and commonality one of the main objectives, whilst pushing new technologies and feature content to enhance and satisfy the customer requirements.
2. The role will be responsible for delivering the design, development and deployment of new electrical & electronic systems into the Excavator product range.
3. As an Engineer in systems design and integration you will provide technical support to the delivery of the system design. You will evaluate multiple system designs to arrive at a harmonised solution that meets the required project attributes. Additionally, you will be responsible for preparing the system level and module level requirements specifications in conjunction with developing functional designs to demonstrate how the customer requirements will be satisfied through the proposed design.
This will be suited to you if:
1. You have knowledge of different CAN bus protocols ie CANOpen, J1939, ISO14229, ISO14230.
2. You have working knowledge of Software development techniques (V Model and functional safety).
3. You have awareness of security impact to achieve secure and resilient systems (hardware and software).
4. You have experience in the completion of different VnV techniques White/Grey/Black box testing.
5. You have knowledge / experience of hardware in the loop (HIL) testing – functional test, fault insertion testing.
