The Role:
Reporting into the Head of Financial Planning – Products, responsible for ensuring all budgets and plans are produced in a timely manner and to the level of granularity and accuracy required for submission to executive committees and the Board of directors. Whilst providing analytical support to new business initiatives. Assessing and contributing to business cases for tactical and strategic proposals and monitoring progress.
In your day-to-day role, as a Senior Financial Analyst you will:
* Support the budget processes through the forecasting of the risk adjusted income for the credit card portfolio.
* Work with other areas of the business to ensure their Budget inputs are on time, accurate and at the correct level of granularity (Commercial and Credit Risk). Provide evidence of sign-off of key business assumptions.
* Support the production of the forecast commentary/presentation to the Group Executive Committee and Group Board for review and approval by providing insight & analysis of the budget as required.
* Perform variance analysis Actuals vs. Budget on a monthly basis and feedback into the budget process where appropriate.
* Support the preparation of Business cases for new business initiatives.
* Be responsible for supporting ad hoc requests for budget data, analysis and insight from other areas of the business.
* Develop and maintain good relationships with commercial and credit risk, divisional finance teams and improve communication within the Finance function.
What will make you stand out?
* Experience of financial reporting and planning systems.
* Knowledge of Anaplan is desirable.
* Ability to investigate and analyse complex data sets, identifying and pro-actively following up potential data and analytical issues.
* Ability to identify potential solutions to analytical issues.
* Ability to identify and implement improvements to forecasting tools and processes.
* Strong communication skills; able to communicate, verbally and in written documentation, with both senior and junior colleagues across the whole organisation and to explain complex commercial and financial issues to others.
* Ability to present financial plans and complex data analysis in simplified forms to facilitate review and challenge to enable senior management decision making.
* Commercial awareness; able to form views and judgments about financial plans and to challenge plans constructively whilst the ability to propose alternative recommendations.
