Applications are invited for the post of Specialty Doctor in Anaesthesia at Stockport NHS Foundation Trust. You will become part of a highly experienced and dedicated team of Consultants, Associate Specialists, Specialty Doctors, ST3+ and CTs providing a comprehensive quality service in this modern District General Hospital.
Main duties of the job
This is a 1:8 rota covering weekends and nights in Theatres, Maternity, and Intensive Care. Outside of the on-call, the successful applicant will be expected to undertake solo working under the supervision of a consultant in any of the above areas.

Job responsibilities
Responsible for the continuing care & treatment of patients in your charge & personal performance of clinical duties as agreed in your job plan. Responsible for the professional supervision, training & management of junior medical staff, carrying out teaching, examination & accreditation duties as required & contributing to postgraduate & CPD activity locally & nationally as appropriate. Participate in clinical audit under local arrangements. Commitment to taking part in the annual appraisal process which will be undertaken by the Medical Appraisal Department. Responsible for compliance with personal continuing professional development requirements with the support of the Trust. It is mandatory for all Medical Staff to keep up to date with evidence-based practice. Responsible for maintaining awareness of & acting in accordance with professional guidelines such as Duties of a Doctor, Good Medical Practice, & the GMC Performance Procedures.
Person Specification
Experience
* Full registration with the General Medical Council
* MBChB
* FRCA
* Anaesthetic training with evidence of ability to undertake solo work with close supervision
* Ability to supervise junior staff
* Minimum of 12 months of UK experience at CT3 level or equivalent
* Experience of teaching and a commitment to life-long learning and continued professional development
* Interested in Undergraduate and Postgraduate teaching Experience of teaching medical and other staff
Skills & Abilities
* All applicants to have demonstrable skills in written and spoken English that are adequate to enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues
* Participation in quality improvement initiatives

Salary: £59,175 to £95,400 a year pro rata per annum.
