As the Head of Controls and Compliance, you will initially be involved with the implementation of SOx controls in GWR. Following implementation, the role will look after the ongoing SOx controls compliance and maintenance programme as well as the management of Retail Audit within GWR. What will you be doing? Initially working with FirstGroup plc as well as First Rail on the implementation and documentation of controls over financial reporting Conducting the periodic compliance testing of those controls Ensuring a strong internal control environment is maintained across all key risk areas in GWR Documentation of all key controls for the business Liaising with FirstGroup, First Rail or future entity internal audit teams Making recommendations on how to improve the control environment, notably for controls over financial reporting Investigating and promoting the use of data to confirm compliance or to highlight anomalies for investigation Managing a SOx Auditor and GWR's Retail Audit Manager Acting as one of GWR's main focal points for fraud investigations You'll need to: Have a strong knowledge of internal controls and have recently worked within an audit function. Be able to document controls and make recommendations to both improve controls and make them more efficient. Work with the owner of GWR's corporate risk register to confirm and test the key controls over our most important risks. Have good communications skills to facilitate the provision of clear guidance for the implementation of the controls and to describe the evidence that is required to be captured to prove the controls have been executed. Have a good understanding of GWR's retail sales and accounting environment, including any associated fraud risks. Be a champion for data driven analysis to facilitate identification of control anomalies. Enjoy being part of a wider Finance team and have the motivation to manage your workload effectively and efficiently. About the location? The role is based at Milford House in Swindon with frequent travel to other GWR locations expected. Working Pattern?
