Calf Rearer / General Farm Worker – Cheshire

Our Farm
Our family-run farm covers 1100 acres, with a herd of 1000 which consists of 750 milking cows, 90 dry cows and calves. The herd is milked three times a day through a 60-point rotary and they are averaging 12,500 litres, with the milk supplied on a Muller Morrisons contract.
The cows are housed and calved all year round. We use Dairy Comp to keep all data and records. We are a well-invested farm with purpose-built calving facilities. You will be joining a full-time team of 10 who share our passion for cows and dairy.
Your role
As a Calf Rearer/ General Farm Worker, you will be working mainly part of our youngstock team. But you will support with other farm requirements when need be, roles and responsibilities will include but won’t be limited to:
Calf Rearer responsibilities:
* The development and care of all our calves.
* Colostrum feeding and treating the calves with antibiotics when required.
* You’ll also be record keeping and ensuring all computer records are maintained.
* Vaccinating and weighing the calves when needed.
* Cleaning milk feeding equipment and mucking out calf pens.
* Reporting any observations to the senior team
General Farm Worker responsibilities:
* Milking as part of a team when required, to a high and consistent standard
* Ensuring the farm is kept tidy & safe to operate.
* Basic telehandler/machinery operation
* General stockperson duties, getting involved with other farm tasks when required
Requirements
* UK Driving Licence
* UK Right to Work
* A Telehandler license is preferred
* 1 year experience on a dairy farm preferred
* Positive and easy-going person with a high attention to detail and excellent communication skills.
* A keen eye for prevention and early detection of calf health issues
