We have an opportunity for a Technical Process Engineer to join our London based client on a 6-month rolling contract. This role has potential to move to a full-time permanent position.
The Technical Process Engineer ensures industrialisation and introduction of new high reliability products into production (submerge and terrestrial) and provides specification & tooling to ensure products can be reliably and consistently assembled and tested.
THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT
1. Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent (industrial, production).
2. Experience in a technical and/or manufacturing environment.
3. Experience in machine and tooling qualifications/validations.
4. Knowledge in PUWER, LOLER, HSE regulations.
5. Knowledge of ISO standards (safety, materials, design, etc.) and quality standards.
6. Knowledge of CAD software (e.g., CREO, Solid Works, CATIA, etc.).
7. Potentially knowledge of MES, SAP, ERP systems and practical experience with Excel and Word.
JOB DESCRIPTION
1. Design mechanical process improvement solutions (mechanical assembly process, tools, tooling, manufacturing equipment) to be put into production with a lean manufacturing approach.
2. Manage the implementation of step change improvements & new innovations, from initial concept to final handover.
3. Create the technical documentary package for new equipment/process solutions (mechanical assembly procedures, tools documentation, tooling drawings, manufacturing equipment procedures, etc.) following company procedures and standards.
4. Validation of the tooling, test benches (ergonomics, safety, etc.), new processes, etc., prior to introduction into manufacturing.
5. Define and monitor project KPIs and budget.
6. SPR and PO management.
7. Perform PUWER assessments.
8. Define Maintenance strategy for new and old equipment.
9. Perform FMEA.
10. Work closely with R&D to ensure products and processes are designed for ease of manufacturing.
11. Evaluate prototype parts/assembly/equipment for new product implementation.
12. Provide feedback to SED/R&D on various issues to aid assembly procedure and design.
13. Define and design tooling and equipment required to simplify the assembly of the product.
14. Review and validate contract documentation (Drawings, Bill of Materials) prior to release.
15. Attend product New Process and New Product Introduction (NPI) meetings and provide inputs into the minutes. Provide reports or meeting minutes.
16. Write build and process specifications for new products ensuring they can be easily understood.
17. Ensure that tooling/equipment are procured/designed and validated/commissioned as per company standard, PUWER, LOLER, HSE regulation, and ISO standard to meet development and production plans.
18. Define standard build times for each assembly process and maintain Reference Ops on the company system.
19. Oversee/supervise production personnel during first off build of qualification units. Provide production support for new product start-up and day-to-day support.
20. Write Extra Work Authorisation (EWA) for product investigations. Review Investigation Request (IR/ITS) and define corrective actions to maintain production build. Investigate and define Root Causes for the defects. Implement improvements and poka-yoke solutions to eliminate defects in future products.
21. Conduct production processes audits on procedures to ensure all are compliant.
22. Lead/participate in a variety of Kaizen projects to reduce waste, improve standard build times, and reduce production cost.
23. Support and collaborate with departments: Supply Chain Engineers, Purchasing, Quality, Production, Maintenance, Manufacturing Support, Training School, Call Off, SQM, etc.
