Job summary
We have a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic, highly motivated and experienced pharmacy technician, to join our pharmacy procurement team at one of the largest and busiest tertiary referral teaching trusts in the country.
This is an excellent opportunity for a pharmacy technician to gain knowledge and skills within pharmacy procurement. You will work closely alongside a team of experienced technical staff to maintain and develop a high standard of medicines procurement at NUH.
The post is fixed term for maternity leave cover, applications are welcome from candidates interested in full and part time hours.
Main duties of the job
* To ensure cost-effective and safe procurement choices reflecting local and national policy.
* To be responsible for ensuring medicines procurement complies with national, regional and East Midlands procurement collaborative contracts and Trust level agreements.
* To ensure ordering conforms to NUH medicines Formulary choices, local prescribing guidelines and procurement policies.
* To provide technical support to the pharmacy finance/purchasing function to ensure safe, appropriate and cost-efficient purchasing of medicines.
* To provide technical support to the Drugs and Therapeutics Committee (DTC) via the DTC and Formulary Interface Pharmacists.

Training and Qualifications Essential
* BTEC, City and Guilds or NVQ level 3 in Pharmaceutical Services, or recognised equivalent.
* General Pharmaceutical Council Registered Pharmacy Technician.
Desirable
* To be a validated accuracy checker.
Experience Essential
* Substantial hospital pharmacy experience.
* Relevant experience in a senior technician role responsible for managing staff, services or resources.
* Experience of pharmacy procurement and associated logistics services.
Desirable
* Current familiarity with MHRA standards and other regulatory authority.
* Staff management experience.

* Good interpersonal, negotiating and presentation skills - written and verbal.
