Job summary
We are looking for a band 5 occupational therapist to join the mental health crisis and intervention team specifically within the home based treatment service based at Miranda house. The role will have input into the homeless mental health team.
We are looking for individuals with experience or interest in working with people who have mental health problems and complex needs. We are seeking people who can adapt to changing environments, and work well in a team. You will be expected to be an active member of the multi-disciplinary team, comprises community psychiatric nurses, social workers, Nursing associates, healthcare support workers, Peer support workers and psychiatrists.
The Occupational therapy role focuses on assessment of needs and have a role in identifying patient pathways. The team works across a large geographical patch with a mixture of community and home visits with some flexibility required. The OT service is guided by MOHO model of practice predominantly and using sensory strategies.
All Occupational Therapists have access to supervision, continuous professional development (CPD) networks, and newly qualified OT's are invited to participate in a monthly Band 5 OT Development Group. The Trust has a very good Preceptorship programme which dovetails with more specific OT requirements. Occupational therapists encouraged to be involved in this learning process.
Main duties of the job
The post-holders will be expected to assess, and deliver, evidence-based OT interventions, to facilitate recovery/wellbeing, and optimise independent functioning in self-care, productivity and leisure activities, from an occupational perspective.
Interventions take place in home environments, community settings and in-patient units, with flexibility of working required to meet service user needs.

HCPC registered or pending post qualification.
Successful completion of an OT training course and qualification awarded or pending.

o Experience of working closely with people, and understanding service user needs.

o Previous working with groups in an OT, community or voluntary setting.

Qualifications
Essential
1. Diploma or Degree in Occupational Therapy
2. Registration with the Health Professions Council
3. Knowledge of occupational therapy models of practice, standardised assessments, and their use in practice
Desirable
4. Evidence of current CPD/formal qualifications at an advanced level degree or post graduate level or equivalent knowledge/experiential learning
5. Willingness to consider undertaking the training required to be a Practice Placements for students.
