We have an opportunity for you to be at the forefront of providing a comprehensive and professional medical human resources and organisational development service to managers and medical staff. Therefore, the ability to work with confidence and diplomacy to build good working relationships is pivotal. Through excellent communication, coaching, and influencing skills, you will support and advise on a variety of Medical Workforce issues at an operational level, ensuring that decision making is consistent with current employment legislation, national terms and conditions of service, and good employment practice.
The Medical Workforce Service provides wrap-around support to all our medical staff and operational managers. Each day brings its own challenges, as such you will need to be confident working both autonomously and leading and supporting a small team.
You will have the opportunity to work with the Head of Medical Workforce Service supporting on the delivery of our strategic priorities, including job planning, medical e-rostering, and people digital.
The role requires strong organisational and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and drive change.
If you are new to all things Medical Workforce, we will work with you to support and develop your knowledge in this specialist area.
This is an office-based position with the flexibility to work from home 1-2 days per working week.
Main duties of the job
Our Medical Workforce Service is pivotal to supporting our Medical Staff with regards to all aspects of Medical HR, Strategy, planning, and Organisational Development. We employ approximately 600 doctors including Doctors & Dentists in Training, Speciality Doctors, Specialist Doctors, and Consultants.

Job Planning
Providing specialist knowledge and support, ensuring that the job planning cycle is adhered to, and central records / e-job planning system is kept up to date.
Medical eRostering System
Support the implementation of a new eRostering system for doctors, to deliver change by leading the transformation through to business as usual.
People Digital
Devon has been selected by NHSE as one of three vanguard regions across the country to embark upon a People Digital transformation programme. You will work with the Head of Medical Workforce to implement this system.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities
* Working directly with the Head of Medical Workforce, you will be responsible for providing project management support ensuring that all projects are completed to deadline and deliver the appropriate objectives.
* You will line manage and support the Medical Workforce Officers to ensure the team delivers a comprehensive range of Medical HR services. This will require you to provide specialist, complex professional advice and guidance.
* You will contribute to the delivery of the Trust’s People Plan in the areas of workforce planning and leadership development as they relate to our medical staff.
Person specification
Experience
* Specialist HR knowledge and experience to postgraduate diploma level gained through vocational experience or CIPD Level 7 Advanced Diploma/equivalent qualification in HR.
