We are looking for a proactive and experienced Project Manager to oversee the delivery of a portfolio of non-infrastructure water projects such as the Raw Water Deterioration Programme with values ranging from £100k to £4 million+. As Project Manager, you will have full responsibility for managing projects throughout their lifecycle, from concept through to handover and close-out, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
Working closely with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, you will drive project success by leading by example in health and safety practices, maintaining strong governance, and ensuring effective coordination of all project activities.
Key Responsibilities:
* Health & Safety Leadership: Prioritise health and safety in all situations, ensuring the wellbeing of all team members, contractors, consultants, customers, and the public.
* Full Project Lifecycle Management: Own the delivery of projects from initial concept through to handover, ensuring smooth transition across all phases.
* Project Management Plan: Prepare, update, and implement the Project Management Plan, monitoring progress, identifying interdependencies, resolving issues, mitigating risks, and taking corrective action as needed.
* Contract Management: Administer contracts, particularly NEC3 Option A, C, and Short Form Contracts, ensuring contractual obligations are met and that projects are delivered to expectation.
* Governance & Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to Affinity Water’s project governance procedures, environmental standards, and compliance with regulatory and statutory requirements.
* Design & Survey Coordination: Oversee the development of designs, initiate necessary surveys and site visits, and prepare Works Information in line with the business case.
* Stakeholder Engagement: Work collaboratively with internal teams and external contractors to ensure seamless project execution and high stakeholder satisfaction.
* Risk & Cost Control: Manage project risks, budgets, and schedules to ensure successful delivery within the approved budget and timelines.
* Reporting: Produce detailed management reports, status updates, cost reports, and project programmes for the Programme Management Team.
* Third Party Liaisons: Ensure timely engagement with third parties, including handling planning applications, land access, and power supply negotiations.
Person Specification:
Qualifications and Experience:
* Engineering, Construction, or Project Management qualification
* Chartered or near Chartered with a relevant institution (e.g., ICE, IMechE, IChemE, RICS)
* APM Project Fundamentals Qualification (PFQ) - Essential
* APM Project Management Qualification (PMQ) - Desirable
* Strong understanding and experience of CDM Regulations
* Experience in contract and commercial management, particularly with NEC Contracts
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
* Full UK driving license
Skills and Competencies:
* Comprehensive knowledge of project management processes and principles, including scheduling, risk management, and stakeholder engagement.
* Ability to lead and manage project delivery teams, working both independently and collaboratively.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
* Diligent work ethic with high standards of professionalism and ethical behavior.
