As the Studio Manager you will oversee, support and manage the delivery of design and content projects. Key to your success in this role will be your ability to understand all the elements of the creative process from end-to-end, ensuring that design and content projects are delivered on time and within the brief. You will have exceptional communication skills and be extremely organised so that you can proactively support and engage with your team and all relevant departments. This role reports into our Head of Design and is based in our London Head Office.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
1. Manage the day-to-day running of the Creative team, managing all studio operations, making full use of project management and collaboration tools.
2. Manage all aspects of the budget for each project, along with financial tracking and controls. Efficiently manage studio time and the Design team, in accordance with the budget.
3. Manage the multi-disciplinary team which may comprise a range of designers, creatives, digital skills and freelancers; setting daily priorities and supporting development of the team.
4. Set up systems and processes so that the department and wider business is aware of how the Design and content team operates.
5. Clearly communicate the internal department and project needs to the design or content team to ensure that the work meets the agreed brief.
6. Assess, interrogate, and clarify briefs and assign the appropriate designers to a project.
7. Proof and review designs and check documents before they are shared with the team/client.
8. Assist on creative production when needed and meet with team members for feedback.
9. Create and implement deadlines, project goals, expectations, and workflows, to ensure a smooth production process with on-time delivery.
10. Manage procurement of print, large format production, subscriptions and tools, and organise deliveries.
11. Curate image libraries and video, artwork, and branding assets. Ensure files are stored and named according to protocols and are completed effectively.
12. Deliver industry insight and market trends to drive innovation.
Desired Knowledge Skills & Experience
1. Previous experience working as a Studio Manager.
2. Experience managing all aspects of the creative process.
3. Flexible in managing multiple projects, requiring a number of skill sets, deadlines and budgets.
4. Proficient in design and digital development processes.
5. Skilled with Adobe applications including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat, and Microsoft Office applications. Skilled in general art working, press preparation, and possibly website content updates using CMS programmes such as WordPress.
6. Connected in the design industry to source freelancers/contractors and new suppliers.
7. Ability to translate briefs effectively as well as the brand/company vision into actionable plans.
8. Experience of recruiting, developing, incentivising and managing teams with a track record of tangible success.
9. Strong budget management skills and financial acumen - constantly aware of cost management.
10. Proven track record of delivery and implementation in a fast-moving retail environment.
