You will be responsible for a number of key aspects related to lifecycle and reliability of broadcast services leveraging the capabilities in Origination and Distribution. The Architecture and Design Manager plays a critical leadership role within our broadcast technology organization, steering the visionary Architecture and Design Team as they define the technological foundation and strategic development of our broadcast television solutions. This role involves overseeing the creation of system architectures and design principles that ensure scalability, resilience, and suitability for the complex demands of modern broadcasting. What You'll Do As the Architecture and Design Manager, you’ll spearhead efforts in deep analysis and innovation in system design, advocating for the integration of cutting-edge technologies and best practices. Your leadership is crucial in crafting architectures that enhance orchestration, automation, and control across our software and hardware solutions, laying down a clear architectural roadmap to guide product development and ensure alignment with evolving industry trends and technological advancements. In this pivotal position, you will foster robust collaboration between the various Engineering Teams, translating high-level architectural strategies into practical, actionable solutions. You will provide essential guidance and oversight, ensuring the software development lifecycle adheres to the established architectural standards. A key part of the role will also involve risk management and technology selection, where they assess potential challenges and opportunities impacting system scalability, performance, and security. They are responsible for defining and tracking KPIs and OKRs that measure and drive the team’s impact on product quality and innovation. You'll be responsible for the Business and Solution Architecture roadmaps owning the "what dimension" of the platforms delivery leading a team of Solution Architects and Solution designers joining the delivery squads to deploy the designed architectures and services Lead and manage a domain architectures teams ensuring we build a high-performing team of architects and designers to become a strong company-wide recognised practice of trusted technologists allowing the business to efficiently scale and innovate to be successful. Design an architecture strategy and roadmap to deliver scalable, flexible, simple to extend and resilient event-driven and API-bases architectures defining the integration patterns, services, data models and the business rules to implement solutions able to evolve and react to the new business needs or, better, being proactively an enabler for the business. Lead the choices of components/packages being part of the domain continuously reviewing the industry trends and working with key vendors to ensure to provide industry-leading solutions and platform features Be part of the O&D leadership team and representing the department across the Group architectural boards and authorities caring the relationships with the other architectural teams Collaborate with the Product Owners, the business and tech stakeholders to define the business and operational capabilities, processes and data-driven automated workflows allowing us to efficiently deliver our one Platform vision, an essential enabler for the current and future Sky needs, through a value stream approach What You'll Bring Significant experience on Media/telco IT solution design including mission-critical 24/7 systems and integrations developments in complex/international environments. Preferred experiences on Broadcasting domain like TV Contribution, Origination and Content processing distribution solutions Knowledge on technologies, tools and methodologies for the SW solution design (API first event driven design, data driven automation, data streams, system integration patterns, microservices architectures, cloud solutions) Experience with public cloud platforms such as AWS and GCP to implement large-scale solutions based on microservices and serverless architectures of distributed services. Proven skills on DB modelling and technologies (RDBMS, NoSQL DBs, Cloud native DBs) Deep expertise of media codecs, video, and audio packaging technologies, encryption and DRM systems and supply chain processes and orchestration Business processes analysis, Agile and DevOps methodologies (Scrum, SAFE,…) experience Attitude to problem solving and a work style driven by objectives, market awareness, knowledge sharing, collaboration and accountability with a passion for technical excellence, business value and the customer satisfaction Strong collaborative leadership, communications and active listening skills to engage people on the transformation of our Platforms Very good level of English both spoken and written Available to travel in and outside Europe Team Overview CONTENT TECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATION Our Content Technology and Innovation team delivers high-quality content to homes, customer devices, businesses and commercial partners across our European markets.
