Solutions4Health are delighted to be offering the role of Lead Consultant in Genitourinary Medicine for Sexual Health Services at Newcastle This is a Full-time job with a salary of £99,532 - £131,964 depending on experience. Role Summary We are looking for a highly motivated doctor to join our multidisciplinary team of medical staff, nurses, health advisors and administration staff who are dedicated to the provision of high-quality sexual health care in Newcastle upon Tyne. Newcastle has high rates of social deprivation, STI carriage and teenage pregnancy. The Integrated Sexual Health Service offers a confidential, specialist and comprehensive community based service, complementing the services provided by Primary Care in Newcastle upon Tyne. We are looking for a lead clinician to provide day to day clinical support to the sexual health team, with a focus on clinical governance and compliance. The successful candidate must be a fully registered medical practitioner and will work up to 10 sessions per week in the integrated Sexual Health service. You should have completed specialty training in Genitourinary Medicine and have your name on the General Medical Council’s Specialist Register or have eligibility within 6 months of prospective interview date. You should hold the Diploma in Genitourinary Medicine, the Diploma in HIV Medicine and the Diploma of the Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Healthcare or equivalent. It would also be advantageous to hold current FSRH Letters of Competence in Intrauterine Techniques and Subdermal Contraceptive Implants. As the lead Consultant, the successful candidate will be expected to led clinics, providing training, education and clinical supervision to members of the team and the wider sexual health partnership. The role will also require leadership on the clinical and quality governance agenda, working with our other sexual health providers to drive clinical improvement. Alongside our experienced medical and nursing team you’ll provide clinical medical leadership for contraception, assessment, and treatment of STIs Main Duties and Responsibilities To provide clinical leadership and act as a source of advice both within and out with the service in his / her field of expertise. Be a key person for advice, support and guidance to the team in the provision of sexual health services in the field of his / her expertise. In conjunction with the team the Consultant will assist in the delivery of a comprehensive sexual health service to maintain the management and follow-up of patients accessing the service. Work with the HIV service across Newcastle (provided by the Infectious Diseases Team of the local acute NHS Trust) and where possible, participating in clinical and research trials and being an active member of the Northern Regional HIV network. Develop good working relationships with other relevant disciplines for example HIV/ID physicians, Public Health, Microbiology, Laboratory Services, General Medicine, Dermatology and Obstetrics & Gynaecology, and especially Primary Care. Ensure delivery of national and local strategies for Sexual Health. Formulate and update guidelines and protocols for the department where appropriate.
