About the role The Taxation Director senior role within the Finance organisation responsible for overseeing and managing the Group’s tax planning, tax compliance and tax structuring requirements. This includes ensuring appropriate process and controls are in place with respect to Corporate Tax, VAT, Payroll taxes and any other direct or indirect tax exposures arising across the Group. The Group Taxation Director will lead on coordination of all regular reporting across all entities in the Group, delegating report submission to the Financial Controllers team where appropriate but will retain responsibility for managing group tax issues including corporate and group reliefs where applicable, intra-group relationships and transfer pricing, VAT compliance and reporting and planning for quarterly corporation tax payments as necessary. The role holder will also be responsible for considering possible benefits arising to the Group from Research & Development expenditure and other tax planning opportunities including modifications to the corporate entity structure of the Group. The Taxation Director will interact with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders including but not limited to Finance Operations, Group Reporting, FP&A, Legal and Compliance, Corporate Development, Procurement, Internal Audit, Operating company boards, the Company Secretary, advisors, consultants, external auditors and shareholders. Responsibilities Tax compliance: Oversee monthly, quarterly and annual tax filings for all direct and indirect taxes impacting the operations of the Group Tax governance: Hold or support the role of Senior Accounting Officer and make required annual attestations, addressing any follow up activity as necessary Tax policy: Develop and maintain appropriate policies specifying and controlling the accounting reporting processes relating to taxation matters Payments and cash management: lead periodic tax payment cycles and related supporting and liaising with the Treasury function to schedule material payments and receipts. Business guidance: provide specialist technical input as required to group initiatives, projects and new product development activities including seeking external opinion where required. Risk Management: Ensure the Group has clearly defined policies, standards, procedures and controls to operate within agreed taxation risk and within the overarching Group risk appetite. Strategic Financial Planning: Provide input on all relevant taxation matters including strategic financial initiatives, mergers, acquisitions and divestitures, and both long-term and short term financial planning. Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and improve taxation standards, systems, and controls to ensure compliance remains up to date and to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and sustainability of tax process. Key accountabilities include: Leadership of Taxation matters for the Group including securing elections, deductions and other potential fiscal benefits available. Planning coordinating and delivering tax compliance Ensuring accurate Tax reporting and disclosures and audit process support Guiding and directing the Group on Taxation planning and optimisation Participation in Senior Finance Leadership Team Group Risk Management process Corporate and legal entity structuring projects Strategic development, regulatory or remediation projects Other Committees and Working Groups as required Supporting good customer outcomes through Robust Management of all taxation matters Ensuring all financial tax risks to the group are identified allowing for effective management action if required. Achieving KPI’s/Targets including: Achieving required timeliness, completeness and accuracy measures for all reporting requirements on the Group Liaison with internal/external stakeholders Developing recommendations with respect to strategic financial planning Managing tax service providers and corresponding budget ownership Maintaining appropriate level of technical skills for self and Finance team Delivering ad hoc tasks/projects to defined plans and budgets when required. Take responsibility in everything you do to deliver good outcomes for our customers Positively demonstrate the Nucleus Smart, Heart and Courage values and behaviours Ensure compliance with Code of Conduct at all times About you You will have, Significant experience in commercial Taxation, with experience covering business taxes, VAT and payroll taxes Proven experience in Tax reporting, compliance and risk management Familiarity with complex UK group structures and transfer pricing regime Ability to build and maintain strong relationships external providers of advice. Collaborator with a proactive approach to problem-solving in teams. High level of integrity and ethical standards. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Presentation skills and the ability to brief teams, guide and influence senior decision makers and wider stakeholders Relevant qualifications: Recognised professional UK tax qualifications You will be comfortable, Working flexibly with time required at the office Working with colleagues and teams who work flexibly, in multiple locations Travelling when and where required to Nucleus business locations to fulfil your responsibilities.
