Role: EC&I Engineer (Contractor or Staff) Contract: Minimum 6 months Location: Huddersfield, West Yorkshire IR35: Outside available (Depending on contract status) Our Client has a requirement for an EC&I Engineer, who will be required to work on a contract basis in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire. Role Purpose for the EC&I Engineer: To work as part of an established design team, progressing EC&I projects from start to completion. The role will involve both office and site-based work, with responsibilities across design, compliance, and project delivery within the Chemical Process industry. Job Role Responsibilities for the EC&I Engineer: Collaborate with the Project Manager and design team to progress EC&I jobs to completion Design instrument loops (pressure, temperature, flow, level, etc.) and electrical circuits (motor controls, LV distribution, lighting, earthing) Ensure compliance with ATEX Directives and regulations for electrical equipment in Hazardous Areas Prepare detailed drawings and documentation, including circuit diagrams, layout diagrams, and installation scopes of work Specify and procure electrical and instrumentation equipment, handle tender enquiries, and obtain quotations Compile Tender & Construction Issue Packages and liaise with Installation Contractors Conduct site visits for equipment placement, cable routing, and client liaison Maintain compliance with British/International Standards, Health & Safety Regulations, and CDM Regulations Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications for the EC&I Engineer 3-5 years of experience in EC&I engineering Experience in the Chemical Process industry preferred Strong knowledge of process control and electrical systems in Hazardous and Non-Hazardous areas Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and AMTECH software Knowledge of PLC and DCS control systems; familiarity with Safety PLC is a plus (training available) Ability to work independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision Based in Yorkshire preferred At First Recruitment Group, we understand how important it is to secure the right people.
