The Role
DCC is looking to appoint Programme Office (PSO) Analysts within the Service Delivery function. The Service Delivery function is responsible for delivering changes to the smart metering ecosystem and ensuring successful transition into live operation. The Service Delivery function is changing and evolving as part of the new Design, Build, Run (DBR) operating model that has recently been established. As such we need an increased demand in programme capability, skills, and behaviours to drive the DBR capability framework forward for success.
DCC is seeking results driven and delivery focused PSO/PMO professionals to join our exciting growing organisation. DCC is a complex, regulated, technology driven business with multiple internal and external stakeholders; therefore, stakeholder management, effective communication and collaborative working skills are key to its success. The Programme Support Office Analyst is a member of the Service Delivery Programme Support Office that provides value-add services and governance ensuring that programme and project plans can be delivered successfully. The Programme Support Office Analyst (PSOA) role includes a range of activities including project reporting and tracking, governance and compliance support, risk and issue management, programme and project documentation maintenance, tool and template management, stakeholder communication and administrative support to the programme team where appropriate.
What will you be doing?
1. Data analysis and decision making. Proactive in identifying trends from data and implementing continuous improvement plans to address deficiencies.
2. Identify and implement process improvements based on experience and evaluation of activities plus lessons learned from other programmes.
3. Provision of intelligent and customer centric administrative support.
4. Provision of meticulous and concise minutes and action lists with a high level of attention to detail. Ability to present materials to different audiences including senior management.
5. Run programme support activities ensuring that meetings are planned with agendas, minutes, actions, and pre-reading sent to attendees in advance. Preparation and organisation will be central to everything you do.
6. Own the management of risks, assumptions, issues, and dependencies (RAID) ensuring clear mitigations are in place.
7. Produce reports within the reporting cadence and calendar ensuring content is accurate, relevant, and appropriate - maintain the ‘single version of the truth’ for your programme/portfolio.
8. Contribute to the development, implementation and improvement of programme support, assurance, and governance processes. Develop structured templates and a controlled reporting regime and ensure effective project controls are in place for all projects and programmes.
9. Establish effective relationships with programme leadership and other key internal stakeholders across DBR and the wider DCC, building credibility to influence and challenge with an aim to embed best practice across the portfolio.
What are we looking for?
1. 1 + years’ experience of working in complex, fast paced, Portfolio or Programme Office environments with strong working knowledge of: best practice risk and issue management, project governance, planning, budgeting, reporting and change control disciplines.
2. Broad experience of working in programme and project-based environments utilising recognised Programme and Project Management (PPM) methodologies to plan and drive execution, manage risks and issues, and adhere to governance and controls.
3. Effective communication, collaboration and relationship development/management skills including having the confidence to effectively challenge others when and where appropriate. Good verbal and written communication and drafting skills with an ability to filter/interpret technical programme updates and provide clear, concise reports for non-technical audiences.
4. Excellent analytical skills with diligence and the ability to identify trends, help shape solutions to problems and appropriately prioritise activities. Proficient use of MS applications including Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio. Data analysis and dashboard presentation skills – e.g. Power BI, advanced Excel.
5. Strong initiative and drive, initiative-taking with an aptitude to work well under pressure and with low supervision. A well-established knowledge and understanding of programme or PMO practices.
