Job Purpose: As a Technical Solution Lead you will provide a focal point for local Air Traffic Management system design, implementation, and delivery for Gatwick Airport, aligned to both the airport customer and NATS. Duties Include: The primary duties of the post holder are detailed below. However, this is not an exhaustive list of all duties required and is not listed in order of priority: Lead and or contribute to the production of customer proposals fulfilling technical input, Solution Lead, Capture Lead roles as required and appropriate. Deliver solutions that comply to NATS Safety Management System and related procedures. Responsible for undertaking Project activities to deliver asset and solutions into operation. Responsible for the alignment of solutions against the customer's strategic objectives Develop and establish solution requirements and ensure solutions are fit for purpose, commercially viable, supportable, and practically maintainable. Challenge and support technical design solutions throughout their project phases, to deliver benefit and value to NATS and the Customer. A responsible stakeholder, to approve key project milestones, Design Complete, Installations Plans and the instantiation of project documentation into the Engineering Operation. Ensure compliance by keeping technical records to the standards required by NATS, the airport, Civil Aviation Authority, and other pertinent authorities. Qualifications/Skills: Professional engineering qualification to Higher National Certificate (Level 4 or SQF Level 7) as a minimum Electronics, Telecommunications or Computer Science or other relevant Engineering discipline. In lieu of the above qualifications, the candidate will be required to demonstrate one of the following alternative criteria: Relevant lower-level engineering qualifications such as an Apprenticeship coupled with demonstrable engineering experience in a relevant field (May include but not limited to: RAF, Navy, Rail, other Safety Critical environment) Evidence of substantial experience gained in a relevant transferable environment (such as ATSEP) gained over a significant period. Shall demonstrate an understanding of safety critical systems and the impact they may have within our operational environment. Proven Stakeholder management and demonstration of relationships with suppliers. Proven ability to learn new technology and keep up to date with advances within the aviation industry. ATSEP (Air Traffic Safety Electronic Personnel) Qualification is highly desirable. Commercial awareness to appreciate what impact a facility failure would have on our customers and a good understanding of internal relationships and dependencies on Air Traffic Management engineering systems. Able to prioritise actions under pressure, with a logical approach to problem solving. Have the technical skills to work on a wide range of equipment. Effective judgement skills with a focus on the resilient delivery of operational services in a safety critical environment.
