Our Orthotics Department are currently recruiting Orthotists to join the team. We are able to offer the role as full time, but would also be interested in considering applicants who are only available to work on a part-time basis.
Candidates with 5 year's clinical experience, experience in treating diabetic and spinal patients, and teaching experience and skills will be eligible to apply for the role at Pay Band 7. Candidates without this level of experience are still welcome to apply and we will appoint at Pay Band 6.

The Orthotics Dept at The Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital NHSFT are an in-house NHS centre, based in Oswestry and working across 3 clinic sites in Shropshire.
We are a team of 16 Orthotists, 4 orthotic assistants, 9 technicians, 4 apprentices and a large administration team.
The clinical role is varied and covers all aspects of orthotic treatment, with opportunities of clinical specialism.
Main duties of the job
As we are able to consider candidates for either Payband 6 or 7 the roles will differ - please review both job descriptions attached as these contain full details.
The role/s are predominantly clinical. Band 6 applicants will be supported with regularly teaching and development sessions specific to their clinical experience. All Orthotists have non-clinical projects to deliver, along with CPD and training time. Band 7 Orthotists have additional responsibilities in project leading along with assisting development of the team and service.

Job responsibilities
Pay band 6 - the full details of the role are detailed within the attached job description. The role is clinically working across sites within Shropshire delivering clinical Orthotic treatment to patients a F2F setting. Clinical areas of work are varied and development and training is provided to enhance clinical career development and progress into specialist clinical areas of delivery. Monthly teaching sessions are provided along with monthly CPD, clinical team meetings and support from the whole team.
Pay band 7 - again the full details are provided in the attached job description. Senior orthotists work clinically in more specialist areas of delivery. They assist in mentorship, preceptorship and training of apprentices and students. They also have clinical development roles to process the clinical service supported by the clinical leads within the dept.

Person Specification
Registration/Qualifications
* BSc Honors Degree in Prosthetics/Orthotics with Valid HCPC registration
* Membership of British Association of Prosthetics and Orthotists
Experience
* Experience working in an orthotic clinical environment, either through work experience or clinical placement.
* Experience of using IT system as part of role
* Experience of research and clinical audit
Skills and competencies
* Clinical assessment skills for diagnosis and appropriate orthotic treatment or non-treatment
* Skills to acquire relevant patient data including casting techniques and materials measurement with jig and devices and digital or scanning tools
* Basic engineering workshop ability, hand tool and machine skills
* Able to problem solve for rate or unique disability/deformity or specific rehabilitation goals
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
