We are recruiting for an Environmental Manager to oversee our projects in our London and southern region. Based out of our offices in either Watford or London, the Environmental Manager will be responsible for taking the lead in creating a culture of best practice environmental performance and continue to improve the sustainability of our projects, whilst at the same time managing and reducing the direct impact of our activities.
Our ambition is to help shape a sustainable world through focussing on three main areas: Acting for the climate, Optimising resources through circular economy and preserving natural environments. Our projects include highway schemes (minor and major), urban realm projects as well as work in the energy sector.
Duties
• Initiate and maintain systems to review and monitor compliance with BS EN ISO 14001 and other company/divisional standards.
• Manage and oversee monitoring equipment, collect, process and interpret data (e.g. water, dust, noise, waste)
• Manage onsite Environmental Site inspections, highlighting any bad and good practice to the relevant teams and Senior Management
• Ensure that the Project Environmental Management System is implemented and operated on site through a programme of checking and auditing.
• Record and report all incidents to all relevant parties and instigate any corrective actions required.
• Prepare monthly environmental reports for the project, including completion of company/client and divisional reporting systems data systems
• Regularly report progress (including achievements) against environmental compliance, and environmental targets to the whole team
• Develop robust and comprehensive mitigation measures to deal with environmental risks, working collaboratively with the production team
• Produce, review and update the Project Environmental Management Plan - EMP (and associated plans) on a regular basis
• Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and client representatives to ensure collaborative working relationships
Person Specification
• Significant experience with either a consulting engineer, civil engineering contractor or a specialist environmental contractor.
• Broad knowledge of all aspects of environmental design and works and impacts on 3rd Parties.
• Member of IEMA and working towards chartered status
