An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced pharmacist to lead pharmacy technical and commissioning services at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS FT. You will be one of four associate directors of pharmacy reporting directly to the Chief Pharmacist
The role is mainly based at Royal Preston Hospital but there are also opportunities to work at Chorley Hospital or off site.
We are seeking a forward thinking, dynamic pharmacist with senior pharmacy management and service delivery experience who is capable of leading, developing and motivating teams to ensure consistently high standards and representing pharmacy both internally and externally.
Main duties of the job
To be accountable for and provide leadership to the pharmacy
·procurement team (includes homecare and high-cost drugs)
·stores and distribution team
·information analyst team (ensuring accountability for £70 million drug spend)
·Pharmacy Manufacturing Unit (PMU - Aseptic, Radio Isotopes, Non-Sterile Manufacturing, Quality Assurance)
Provide direction for the strategic development of above services, including service improvement and innovation, workforce planning, business development and financial management.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Duties to include but not be limited to:
1. Manage the governance, risk management and assurance of quality within PMU ensuring compliance with Trust, professional, legal, and regulatory requirements.
2. In line with the Department of Health’s Strategy ‘Homecare Medicines: Towards a Vision for the Future’, to lead and manage the development of Homecare Services.
3. To lead the implementation of robust processes to ensure full recovery of Trust income for Payment by Results (PbR) excluded medicines and other recharged medicines and ensure governance, financial and commissioning arrangements for high-cost drugs are fully implemented
4. To lead on the delivery of pharmacy and medicines related Cost Improvement Programme (CIP) schemes.
5. To be an active member of the Pharmacy Senior Leadership Team assisting in the strategic development of Pharmacy Services and delivery of Pharmacy Business Plan.
6. To be an active member of Pharmacy Workforce and Organisational Development Group, Pharmacy Safety and Quality Group and Pharmacy Finance and Operations Group.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
7. MPharm or equivalent
8. Registration as a pharmacist with the GPhC
9. Relevant postgraduate qualification

Knowledge
Essential criteria
11. Minimum 8 years post registration hospital experience with at least 2 years in a senior role.
12. Extensive knowledge and experience of specialist areas.
13. Knowledge and understanding of NHS contracting, commissioning, procurement and finances.
14. Proven budget management and demonstrable success in achieving savings.
15. Evidence of strategic planning/service development
16. Experience of workforce development.
17. Experience of deriving key messages from complex information and large data sets and presenting in a user-friendly format.
18. Evidence of significant, relevant and on-going CPD
Desirable criteria
19. Experience in the use of Pharmacy IT Systems
20. Knowledge of current NHS policy drivers and commissioning agendas.
