JOB DESCRIPTION
Wood is currently recruiting for a Department Manager of Engineering Systems & Information Management for the Projects business in the UK. The role shall be based in our Reading office working directly with the department and project team members to lead delivery of our engineering systems and information management services in the UK.
To be clear, this is not an IT support role; this is providing expertise and leadership in the area of ES technical solutions and IM strategies for our customers, coordinating and rationalizing our teams in this area, and providing animation to the growth of this portfolio. This role reports to the VP of Project Systems and Processes.
This role is key to the acceleration of customer lifecycle information management, data integrity, technology-led solutions for project execution, and digital delivery within the Projects business for both internal solutions and external customer projects. This role is critical in positioning Wood as the customer's Main Information Contractor (MIC) and Digital Asset/Digital Twin partner, a significant element of the overarching projects growth strategy.
This role is responsible for strategy and solutions development, project delivery support, supporting recruitment of suitably qualified staff, building, growing and maintaining relationships with internal and external customers, business partners, the wider Wood Projects, Digital and Consulting community, and other influential stakeholders in Technical Assurance.
The role is responsible for the development of customer-led services and solutions to deliver best-in-class Engineering systems portfolio, asset lifecycle information management, standards, digital asset ecosystems, and data integrity throughout the project lifecycle.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Define, shape, drive and execute strategic plans in partnership with the business leadership and the strategy and development function, supporting short and long-term business needs aligned to accelerated growth aspirations.
2. Develop and maintain existing relationships throughout the Wood business, in particular with Projects, Operations, and Consulting.
3. Deliver project leadership, resourcing support, and governance.
4. Advise on the technical direction, processes, and supporting technologies that will enable the successful delivery of ESIM and related digital services.
5. Able to operate as a Product Owner to support the internal development of technical solutions, software automation, and data management.
6. Responsible for engaging with the P&L Holders in the business to coordinate and ensure all day-to-day management and operational decisions on live projects are met and that solutions meet customer expectations, leading to successful project delivery.
7. Ensure integrity and compliance of all management and financial reporting, working closely with relevant functions to ensure appropriate financial controls are in place and adhered to.
8. Work in partnership with Business Development and Marketing teams, and the regional G&D functions on key prospects and securing new opportunities to achieve sales and growth goals in accordance with the regional sales plans, and meet the company's sales, growth, and business strategy.
9. Identify and assess principal ESIM execution risks for projects and ensure that these are being monitored and managed.
10. Ensure that the Projects ESIM function maintains high ethical standards and social responsibility wherever it does business.
11. Communicate effectively with customers, employees, and all stakeholders.
12. Represent the business at customer meetings, conferences, and applicable trade shows.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Degree qualified or equivalent industry experience.
Job specific experience:
1. Significant experience and competence in operationally focused senior management roles within a complex international organisation.
2. Deep understanding and knowledge of relevant markets.
3. Ability to provide leadership to multiple disciplines across a complex organisation.
4. Proven ability to establish strong and appropriate relationships with the regional leadership team, joint venture partners, customers, staff, and all stakeholders.
5. Proven record of implementing and embedding a safety culture.
6. The position requires demonstrated experience in integrating and coordinating diverse areas of management.

Knowledge of:
1. Cross supplier technology stack awareness including interoperability and supporting architecture considerations.
2. How asset lifecycle information management, data integrity, and the digital asset ecosystem can add value to our customers.
3. Recent knowledge of the growth and advancement of Digital Twins within industry.
4. Current and nascent technologies related to data-centric delivery on projects.
5. General familiarity with related industry standards and initiatives e.g., CFIHOS, BIM ISO19650 etc.
6. Strategic commercial and business models.
