Description Job Title: Advanced Apprentice Sheet Metal Worker Location: Glasgow Salary: Starting from £18,018 with annual progression through the scheme duration. What you will be doing: As a Sheet Metal Work apprentice, you’ll learn the skills and techniques required for installing, manufacturing and refurbishing a wide range sheet metal furniture and fittings. You will use a wide variety of tools and equipment safely and efficiently to manufacture and install sheet metal components to the highest degree of quality. Specific activities could include: As a Sheet Metal Worker apprentice, you will be trained to use your precise hand and machine skills to fabricate a range of components from different materials to be installed and tested on the ship. These will include the manufacture of elements involving various materials from 0.7mm up to 6mm thick. You will be trained to cut and shape metals from 0.7mm to 6mm to exact specifications, working from drawings, and will learn how to inspect and check sheet metal components. You will also manufacture ships’ metal components such as cabin doors, furniture, ventilation trunking and small to medium sized equipment. You will have the opportunity to develop your experience in metal work by fabricating and installing ship furniture and cabin modules, build and install sub-units such as lockers, cabinets, ladders, hose reels, galley kitchen units, and seating and ventilation systems. In addition to this you will be trained to a high standard in various welding disciplines. What Qualification Will You Get? SVQ 3 Diploma in Engineering at SCQF Level 7.
