Main duties of the job
Roles and Responsibilities:
* Provide reassurance and support to patients and carers/family.
* Provide information to enable the effectiveness of care to be evaluated and records maintained.
* Report any concern regarding patient care.
* Locate all policies relating to good working practice within the clinical area and adhere to them.
* At the direction of the registered nurse, participate fully in the delivery of planned nursing care.
* Serve drinks and meals to patients and assist those requiring help.
* Assist in bed making and the disposal of soiled linen.
* Chaperone patients as necessary.
* Record temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, and pulse oximetry, also fluid input and output, and report findings to the nurse in charge of patient care.
* Collect and test specimens as required and report abnormalities.
* Ensure safekeeping of patient’s property and valuables within Trust guidelines.
* Work collaboratively with others in the ward to ensure that patient’s needs are met.
* Acknowledge your own boundaries and ask for assistance as required.
* Recognize and respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations.
Person specification
Knowledge and Skills
* Able to communicate both in written and oral.
* Experience in a care setting.
* NVQ certificate.
* Previous experience working in the NHS.
* Previous experience as HCA.
Communication
* IT literate.

* Demonstrate experience in teamwork.
* Work as a member of a wider MDT.
