Job title Governance & Volunteer Support Manager Salary:£35,000 per year Reporting to:Chief Executive Officer Contract: 3 year fixed term Purpose This role ensures Girlguiding Ulster meets statutory and regulatory requirements, supporting its organisational restructure for sustainability. It oversees governance across the regional headquarters, four independent Counties (charities with volunteer Boards), and their associated Districts and units (over 400 individual charities). Key Responsibilities Governance: Develop and implement governance plans aligning with the Code of Good Governance. Design risk registers, strategic, financial, and growth plans for Counties. Facilitate recruitment, induction, training, and succession planning for Trustees. Advise County Trustee Boards on governance efficiency and compliance with core documents. Ensure smooth governance framework operations and alignment with Girlguiding UK policies. Compliance: Support Counties with mergers, closures, and CCNI compliance. Manage statutory returns, including trustee updates and annual filings. Maintain Trustee registers of interests and conflicts of interest policies. Risk Management: Champion risk management across the organisation. Monitor and mitigate risks, analyze trends, and provide quarterly updates to the GGU Trustee Board. This role promotes strong governance, accountability, and continuous improvement, ensuring Girlguiding Ulsters success as a registered charity and membership organisation. Essential criteria Relevant third level qualification and 2 years relevant experience in governance, preferably in a charitable setting, or 5 years relevant experience in governance, preferably in charitable setting Experience of working closely with senior managers and trustees, and successfully managing board meetings and committees Excellent administrative, planning, and organisational skills, with the ability to assimilate and summarise information and place it within the wider context. ExcellentITskills,includingwordprocessing,producingpresentations and the setting up and storage of information through spreadsheets and databases.
