Fine Group is an expert in engineered textile products providing solutions that carry, cover and protect people and products. We are engaged in the design and manufacture of products for some of the worlds leading companies in their market space, operating across multiple sectors from military to healthcare. We develop strategic partnerships with customers and are often the supplier of choice as we work with our customers to develop new products and solutions to solve their problems. The business has recently gone through a change of ownership and is looking to develop and grow from its strong 75 yr heritage, with plenty of market opportunities the business is set for an exciting 5 years ahead with a combination of organic and inorganic growth expected. In order to deliver on this growth vision we are now seeking to appoint a Head of Operations to work alongside the MD and the new owners who are actively involved in the business.
The prime function of this role is to take full responsibility for the business operations, including: sourcing of all materials, supplier engagement and selection, co-ordination of the supply chain to ensure materials are available across all manufacturing sites, planning of production to meet customer requirements, ensuring the quality of all manufactured products, all inbound and outbound logistics, warehousing and oversight of the three manufacturing sites in Derby, Morocco, and China.
You will play a pivotal role in ensuring that all product is delivered on time in full to our customer’s high standards, while at the same time developing the manufacturing footprint and operating model to deliver the future needs of the business. This role requires a self-starting attitude with the ability of being highly organised. The successful candidate should have drive and determination with a “can do” attitude and a proven track record of operations management ideally within a manufacturing environment. This role will require ad-hoc international travel as required.
Key Responsibilities
* Key member of Senior Leadership Team of Fine Group
* Developing and implementing a manufacturing strategy to optimise the manufacturing footprint while driving efficiency and quality through the manufacturing process
* Planning and monitoring of day-to-day business operations to ensure products are delivered to customer expectation (time, quality and specification)
* Evaluate and manage performance across the manufacturing business, setting KPI’s, targets and driving a culture of continuous improvement
* Create clear standards and ways of working to be deployed across all Fine Group operations
* Evaluate efficiency and drive process improvements across Operations
* Develop company technical capability and knowledge in line with business requirements
* Develop an effective, capable and motivated team
* Co-ordinate Supply Chain team to deliver common goals, particularly OTIF
* Lead process control to improve quality metrics across the business
* Co-ordinate factory production across all three manufacturing sites (Derby, Morocco and China)
* Improve the total cost of manufacture by deriving value from the Supply Chain & manufacturing operations
* Develop the sourcing function to ensure best in class suppliers, offering value, technical know-how while supporting the businesses financial objectives
* Set supplier objectives to match organisational objectives, and affect management of supplier capabilities and resources
* Oversee inventory management (raw materials to finished goods) as well as inbound and outbound logistics associated with moving of products and materials.
Experience and Skills
* At least 5 years of Operations Management Experience
* Sound knowledge of product manufacturing
* Sound knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles
* Extensive experience of MRP & S&OP principles & systems
* Project management skills and experience
* Experience setting up, moving and integrating manufacturing operations
Candidates must be able to demonstrate a technical awareness of issues facing a modern forward-thinking manufacturing & supply chain business. Whilst preference will be given to candidates with previous manufacturing experience we are willing to accept candidates with indirect experience who have held senior management positions.
