About the role
An exciting opportunity to work in-house for a major complex highway business. As a Paralegal in this dynamic role, you will immerse yourself in a broad spectrum of legal disciplines, including contract, construction, environmental, land, and tort law. You will play a crucial role in supporting the business by navigating a diverse array of legal challenges that emerge daily across our project road network. This position demands versatility, responsiveness, and a proactive approach. We seek a professional who excels in both negotiation and legal drafting, with the ability to provide strategic legal insights that drive our success.
What you'll be doing
* Champion Connect Plus Services Values: Embody and promote our core values in every aspect of your work, ensuring a positive and cohesive team environment.
* Advance Sustainability Initiatives: Actively support and contribute to the business’s sustainability goals, ensuring our practices align with environmental and social responsibilities.
* Conduct Comprehensive Claim Investigations: Lead investigations into claims and defences, gathering crucial information to support our legal positions.
* Assist with Land and Boundary Matters: Collaborate with the land administrator to manage all land-related issues, ensuring compliance with regulations and protecting company interests.
* Monitor Legal Developments: Stay ahead of legislative changes, assessing their impact on our operations and providing strategic advice to mitigate risks.
Who we're looking for
* A Law degree or Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL) with a minimum grade of 2:1
* Demonstrated excellence in contract, land, and tort law modules
* Strong written advocacy skills, with the ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly and persuasively
* Experience in conducting thorough legal research and analysis.
* Proficiency in negotiation, with a track record of securing mutually beneficial outcomes

The M25 is the busiest section of motorway in Europe and requires careful and efficient planning of work in order to deliver over 100m of annual investment in the highway infrastructure each year, in addition to planned and reactive maintenance activity.
