JOB DESCRIPTION
A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF
I am a 7 year old boy living in the Porth area. I enjoy photography and recently took part in an exhibition with Follow your Dreams in Pontyclun where some of my photos were shown. I also love to do crafty things and like to move and dance and enjoy the hokey cokey. I love socialising and can be interested in everything.
I have a diagnosis of cerebral palsy which effects my left side more. I have limited mobility and do use a wheelchair sometimes. When walking about I wear a helmet as I am prone to falls. I also have a speech device I am learning to use and use Makaton sign language to communicate.
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To help me access the community and take part in social events. This will also give my parents some respite.
HOURS OF WORK
I have 4 hours per week available during term times and 6 hours in the holidays.
This would normally be used in two shifts after school to enable me to go to after school club safely.
RATES OF PAY
£13.10 per hour
TASKS CAN INCLUDE
Taking me to or meeting me in after school club.
Going on trips further afield such as Castell Coch, Margam Park or St Fagan’s.
Doing crafts or photography with me.
Reminding me to go to the toilet and looking out for when I need to use the toilet. I will also need support to go to the toilet.
I will also require changing if I have an ‘accident’ when out.
Potentially learning some Makaton sign language.
TYPE OF PERSON REQUIRED
A driver with business class insurance is desirable - My parents use a specialised mobility car which they would look to add a PA onto the insurance but this can be worked around if needed.
A fun and sociable person who is friendly and can make me laugh.
Someone who is prepared to learn some Makaton sign language with my mother.
A reliable and punctual person.
A person who respects the privacy and confidentiality of working in someone else’s home.
ABOUT THE JOB
This will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number to be submitted. A trial period of six months will be necessary in the first instance. The wage will be paid four-weekly on return of a payslip provided by the Centre for Independent Living. You will receive appropriate holidays and holiday pay. This post is subject to an enhanced police check (DBS) and training may be required if identified by the employer.
