Job Opportunity: Child Protection Team Social Worker Location: Bolton, Greater Manchester Salary: £39 per hour Contract: Temporary, Full-time Closing Date: Ongoing About the Role Bolton Council's Children’s Services is looking for an experienced and dedicated Duty and Assessment Social Worker to join our Child Protection Team. As a Duty and Assessment Social Worker within the Child Protection Team, you will play a crucial role in responding to referrals, conducting comprehensive assessments, and determining the level of intervention required for children and families needing protection and support. You will work closely with partner agencies, ensuring a child-centred approach while prioritising the safety and wellbeing of those involved. Key Responsibilities: Conduct timely and thorough assessments of children and families referred to the service, ensuring that all needs and risks are appropriately identified. Provide evidence-based recommendations for intervention in line with safeguarding policies and practices. Collaborate with professionals from health, education, the police, and other relevant agencies to manage and mitigate risks to children. Ensure children’s voices are heard and their best interests are central to all decisions. Maintain accurate, up-to-date records in compliance with legal and regulatory frameworks. Develop and implement care plans to address the identified needs of children and families, ensuring multi-agency collaboration is at the heart of service delivery. Attend meetings, case reviews, and conferences to advocate for the best outcomes for children and families. What We Are Looking For: HCPC-registered Social Worker with current Social Work England registration. Previous experience in children’s services, ideally within Child Protection or similar safeguarding roles. Strong understanding of child protection procedures, safeguarding legislation, and assessment frameworks. Ability to manage a varied caseload and work effectively under pressure. Proven track record of working autonomously and as part of a team, with excellent organisational and time management skills
