Our client is a progressive first opinion, small animal, RCVS-accredited hospital with a significant and growing referral caseload. The practice has excellent surgical, medical, and diagnostic facilities including in-house MRI, CT, Ultrasound and Xray facilities. High-level inpatient care is maintained by the nursing team providing 24hr coverage at the clinic. While they are very proud of their reputation for providing the highest standards of care, they are more committed than ever to continue to improve the standards of the services they provide.
The practice is situated in affluent South Belfast, a cosmopolitan, growing city with much to offer both socially and for outdoor enthusiasts; there is no shortage of things to do outside of work too.
This role is ideal for an experienced nurse wanting to develop their career, or a recent graduate who wants to join a supportive team. The client is looking for a dedicated and committed Registered Veterinary Nurse to join their team to undertake all of the following duties:
1. Nurse consultations to include; weight clinics, 6 month checks, nail trimming, nutrition chats and many more.
2. Patient nursing including critical care patient nursing, scrub nurse duties, patient triage, blood sampling and catheter placement.
3. Anesthetics of mainly small animals and occasionally exotics.
4. Radiography, lab and microscope work.
5. Puppy socialisation classes.
6. Maintaining health and safety standards and hygiene protocols.
There is a team of 10 Veterinary Surgeons, 12 Registered Veterinary Nurses, Animal Nursing Assistants and 12 support staff. They have a range of Vets with additional qualifications and certificates and several working towards further qualifications in the fields of Orthopaedics, Surgery, Internal Medicine and Neurology. Their nurses also have a range of additional certificates, and they are very supportive of nurses furthering their skills and completing Certificates if they desire to. The clinics greatest resource is their staff- their enthusiasm, experience, and ability to work together as a team help them provide the highest standard of care.
Ideally working up to 40 hours per week across an 8 week rolling rota, with 1:4 weekends & a share of the OOH rota with plenty of time back after/before weekend and out of hours work. The client can consider part time hours and flexible working as they understand the importance of balancing home life with your work life and would be happy to discuss how they can fix and flex their rota patterns to suit you. Salary up to £32,000 DOE.
