Job Title: Quantity Surveyor (Residential & Commercial) Location: Cardiff Salary: £60,000 to £70,000 Working Hours: Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm Job Type: Full-time/Permanent About the Role We are seeking a Quantity Surveyor with experience in residential and commercial construction to join our team. You will play a key role in cost management, contract administration, and financial control across a variety of projects, including housing developments, apartment complexes, office buildings, and retail spaces. Key Responsibilities: Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and tender documents for residential and commercial projects. Conduct feasibility studies to assess project viability and cost-effectiveness. Manage and monitor project costs, ensuring profitability and budget adherence. Assess and negotiate contracts, subcontracts, and procurement agreements. Measure and value construction work, including variations and change orders. Prepare and submit valuations, applications for payment, and final accounts. Work closely with developers, contractors, architects, and project managers to ensure financial efficiency. Conduct risk assessments and value engineering to maximise cost savings. Ensure compliance with UK construction laws, regulations, and industry standards. Assist in dispute resolution, claims management, and contract variations. Requirements: Qualifications: Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field. RICS or CIOB accreditation is desirable. Experience: Proven experience in residential and/or commercial construction projects in the UK. Skills: Strong knowledge of construction contracts (e.g., JCT, NEC). Excellent cost control, budgeting, and negotiation skills. Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Excel. Strong communication and analytical abilities.
