The Borderlands Inclusive Growth Deal is an exciting new partnership to unlock the potential for sustainable and inclusive economic growth across the South of Scotland and North of England. One component of this effort is the Natural Capital Scotland Programme, made up of several natural capital pilot projects including the Embedding Agricultural Resilience for a Productive Future with On-farm Plans Integrated with Nature (OPIN) project led by our UNESCO Biosphere in partnership with Dumfries and Galloway Council. We are looking to recruit a dedicated Natural Capital Officer to lead on delivery of this exciting new project. You’ll need to have a good knowledge and understanding of natural capital, audit methodologies, and agricultural operations along with experience of engaging with farmers and working in partnership with a broad spectrum of partners. You’ll oversee the development and delivery of the audits along with holistic farm plans. You’ll then work with the farms to pilot a range of nature positive interventions to enhance the natural capital whilst also retaining a productive farm business, providing reports of the outcomes and outputs. Working as part of our Nature Recovery Team, alongside colleagues with specialisms in Community and Business development, there is flexibility for the hybrid working.
