Job Description:
We are seeking a Vicar for the semi-rural parish of All Souls', Crockenhill (Dartford Deanery, Kent). This is a half-time appointment (3 days plus Sunday).
ABOUT OUR PARISH AND CHURCH
We aim to grow closer to God, to spread the gospel of Jesus, express God's love in action and become the most loving place in Crockenhill.
Crockenhill is a thriving village (population 1,800 approx) located less than 2 miles from the town of Swanley with its rail links to Central London and the Kent coast, doctors, dentists, supermarkets and Library. It has a popular local primary school and a number of activities and organisations for young and old centred mainly around the Village Hall including a Pre-School, WI, CrockenARA.
All Souls' Church was built in 1852 and can sit 150 comfortably in its Victorian pews. The churchyard in which the church stands is no longer used for burials but is officially 'closed'. The main burial ground is a short walk along Eynsford Road and will provide space for burials for a good number of years.
Worship is best described as 'central', with some parts of the service sung. Clergy robe for services (one main CW Eucharistic service each Sunday: USA 30-35 adults/2-6 children) and worship is supported by a choir and volunteer organist.
There is a Church Room within the churchyard grounds which is used for a number of community events, including the weekly Community Cafe.
The Vicarage is a 4-bedroomed, newly decorated, detached property (double garage with electric doors) next door to the church. The interior and exterior are in good condition and the established garden (which is of a good size and nicely secluded) has been well maintained. Part of the vicarage parking area is available for disabled access during services.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE is someone who:
* Is caring and approachable; a people person with a sense of humour.
* Has an appreciation of the values and merits of collaborative leadership style, while possessing the ability to delegate.
* Will embody our values of inclusivity and openness, offering warmth and welcome.
* Is able to discern and enable gifts of others.
* Can convey the Gospel with modern relevance to everyday life.
* Will be a visible and active presence in the village and able to strengthen connections with the local primary school.
