Our client based in Ross-shire is a leader within the manufacturing and energy sector. Currently looking for a proactive and skilled Service Engineer to join their team, delivering energy solutions to their clients across Scotland. In this field-based role, you'll play a key part in supporting and maintaining industrial biomass steam boiler systems, ensuring they operate at peak performance, efficiency, and reliability. This is a mobile role requiring regular travel to client sitesprimarily in the Scottish Highlands and Islandswith overnight stays as needed. Youll be part of a collaborative team that values flexibility, initiative, and delivering exceptional service. Key Responsibilities Conduct planned preventative and corrective maintenance on biomass boiler systems Respond swiftly to equipment breakdowns to minimise downtime Perform routine servicing, inspections, and fault diagnostics on mechanical and electrical plant, equipment, and instrumentation Manage stock and parts inventory for maintenance activities Accurately record maintenance tasks and schedules using the companys CMMS Complete clear and concise site visit reports Provide feedback to client engineering teams on system performance and required follow-up actions Induct and supervise specialist subcontractors, ensuring adherence to site procedures and standards Maintain site compliance with contract KPIs and H&S/environmental regulations Conduct risk assessments and write method statements for work activities Ensure proper work authorisations are in place for all tasks, including third-party contracts Uphold site safety standards and follow emergency response procedures as required Support the development and delivery of training materials for internal and external use Essential Skills & Experience Multi-skilled Engineer with HND or equivalent qualification, or a completed time-served apprenticeship in mechanical or electrical engineering (electrical bias preferred) Minimum 2 years experience in an industrial engineering environment Demonstrated experience in field service, maintenance, and technical support Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach Confident communicator, both written and verbal, with the ability to build positive relationships with customers and colleagues Full UK driving licence Comfortable with travel and occasional overnight stays as business needs dictate Team-oriented with the ability to work independently when required Key Competencies Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues Strong organisational and time-management skills Proactive and adaptable, with a willingness to learn Sound decision-making under pressure Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) Desirable Experience Familiarity with biomass systems and steam boilersespecially servicing, fault repair, and fuel/feed systems Basic knowledge of PLC control systems Experience using computerised maintenance management systems Understanding of compliance and certification standards If you are interested in discussing this role in more detail please contact Lyndsey at Global Highland ADZN1_UKTJ
