University College London Hospitals is seeking to appoint a Locum Consultant in General Gynaecology (10 PAs) with a special interest in early pregnancy and acute gynaecology for an initial term of 12 months. We are looking for an enthusiastic and talented individual who wishes to join our well-established and dedicated team.

Main duties of the job
The post will comprise 10 sessions each week, including outpatient clinics, multidisciplinary meetings, surgical operating lists, and inpatient ward rounds. The post holder will also participate in the gynaecology consultant on-call rota and should possess the required clinical skills to respond to gynaecological emergencies. The successful applicant will join our close-knit team, founded on mutual respect and the delivery of excellence in clinical care. Exceptional interpersonal skills and team working are essential. Clinical care is delivered within a well-established clinical governance framework and our unit has a commitment to data collection, clinical audit, and clinical research.

Person specification
Professional Qualifications
* Full GMC registration
* Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register or eligibility for entry within 6 months of the date of the AAC
* CCT or equivalent, confirmed by the GMC
* MRCOG or equivalent
* RCOG ATSM in early pregnancy and acute gynaecology
* ATSM Subfertility and reproductive health
Clinical Experience
* Clinical training and experience in gynaecology equivalent to UK CCT level
* Extensive clinical experience in early pregnancy and acute gynaecological care
* Experience in running an early pregnancy / gynaecological assessment Unit
Clinical Skills
* Excellent skills in gynaecological ultrasound and management of early pregnancy complications
* Broad range of operating skills in benign gynaecology including MVA and outpatient hysteroscopy
Clinical Knowledge
* Good knowledge of the aetiology, diagnosis and management of early pregnancy complications
Audit, Quality Improvement, Management & IT
* Evidence of engagement in clinical audit and quality improvement activity
* Proven leadership and management skills to support the development of the service
* Ability to adopt the use of electronic patient management systems in the care of patients
Research, Teaching skills & experience
* Evidence of commitment to education, training, and teaching
Personal Qualities
* Commitment to respect and support colleagues, and work cooperatively within teams
* Ability to demonstrate empathy and understanding to patients with distressing symptoms
* Provision of holistic, person-centred care
