Sanday Community School is an exciting, dynamic place to teach. You will be working with an enthusiastic and skilled team who are committed to improvement and excellence. Our school is the “Heart, Soul and Future of our Island Community” and we take this responsibility very seriously.
As a teacher working at Sanday School you will have the opportunity to work with a diverse age range of pupils, as our school welcomes pupils from 3-16 years of age; our roll is approximately 60. You will be expected to deliver high quality learning experiences for pupils in S1-4 ensuring that the pupils can attain the very highest of qualifications. Teachers at Sanday School need a high degree of flexibility and the ability to work independently.
The maths and science classroom is well resourced and we make good use of ICT. You will have the opportunity to work with other colleagues in Orkney’s two other Junior High schools. Our pupils move to Kirkwall Grammar School for S5 and we have close links with this school.
These teaching positions in Sanday offer the healthy balance of interesting, involving work and a tranquil peaceful environment within which to relax and enjoy. Sanday is a vibrant, fun island to live on. There is a strong community spirit island wide. A range of events occur over the course of the year involving everyone. The island has good transportation links to the mainland by sea or air. We are well resourced, having two shops and two post offices. Check out the Sanday Development Trust’s website for more information: Our island looks forward to welcoming you.
