About the Role We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Financial Controller to join our team. As a Financial Controller, you will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations, ensuring compliance, and driving efficiency across the organisation. Key Responsibilities Leading the financial reporting and operations team (5 direct reports), including recruitment, training, and performance management. Ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial records and reports. Managing the month-end and year-end closing processes. Overseeing tax compliance and liaising with external auditors and regulatory bodies. Implementing and maintaining effective internal controls to safeguard company assets. Staying abreast of changes in financial regulations and ensuring the company's adherence. Overseeing the preparation of the statutory accounts. Overseeing the completion of statutory returns such as VAT returns and customs correspondence. Contributing to a culture of continuous improvement. Providing ad-hoc support to the Finance Director when required. How success is measured Timely and accurate financial reporting in compliance with applicable standards. Effective management of AP and AR functions, evidenced by optimised cash flow and minimal bad debts. Successful implementation of system improvements leading to increased efficiency. Positive feedback from internal and external stakeholders regarding the finance team's performance Timely completion of the statutory accounts. Success of the year-end audit What You'll Need Essential Qualifications and Experience: Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA). Proven experience in a senior financial management role, preferably within a similar industry. Strong leadership and team management skills. In-depth knowledge of financial reporting standards and regulations. Proficiency in financial systems and software. Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of tax regulations relevant to the industry Desirable Skills: Familiarity with ERP systems such as Dynamics 365 and Agresso.
