An exciting opportunity has arisen at the University Hospital of North Midlands to join ourteam of Respiratory Consultants working at our Royal Stoke and County sites.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidates will complement the expertise of the 21 Respiratory Consultants, 10 SpRs, 2 NIHR recognised academic fellow posts, and 27 Clinical Nurse Specialists working across the speciality. The department provides both an inpatient, outpatient and day case Sleep & Ventilation Service, Interstitial Lung Disease, Cystic Fibrosis, Asthma, Lung Cancer, Pleural Procedures and General Respiratory services across both our sites.

The Respiratory Department is the regional centre for interstitial lung disease and non-invasive ventilation. The Respiratory Department consists of 4 Respiratory Wards with 111 inpatient beds, including a 26 bedded Acute Lung Unit with 16 NIV beds, 2 Respiratory Physiology Departments over 2 sites offering a range of lung function tests.

Job responsibilities
This post is designed to offer specialist experience in Interventional Bronchoscopy, Pleural Diseases and Lung Cancer. It will be suitable for individuals aiming at a career in interventional pulmonology and pleural diseases. Opportunities for specialist training include rigid bronchoscopy, critical airway obstruction management including tumour debulking and trachea-bronchial stent insertion, endobronchial ultrasound (EBUS), thoracoscopy under local anaesthesia and indwelling pleural catheters.
